Ojai is located in one of the few east-west valleys in the country just north of Ventura and east of Santa Barbara.  This alignment lends itself to an unusual natural occurrence called the "pink moment".  At sunset as the sun melts behind the mountain range, the sky is awash with vivid pink.  The name Ojai is derived from the Chumash word meaning "Valley of the Moon".  Ojai is only 15 miles inland from the ocean on the California coast. 

This community is one of the most charming small towns in California.  It is  home to artists, spiritual seekers, nature enthusiasts, musicians and alternative health practitioners.  The vibrant town center offers a smorgasbord of art, cafes, farmers markets, theater, parks and excellent dining.  For the outdoor enthusiast, there are magnificent mountain ranges for biking, hiking and camping.  Lake Casitas is less than 15 minutes away, offering a plethora of outdoor activities.  If you are looking for golf or tennis, Ojai is well known for both.  The Ojai tennis tournament is the oldest continuously held tennis tournament in the world.  The Ojai Inn & Spa is listed as one of the top 25 resorts on the continent. 

The Ojai International Film Festival takes place annually and draws many of the biggest names in the industry.  Last year's festival opened with the first annual Ojai Film Festival Celebrity Golf Classic at the Ojai Valley Inn &
Spa, which was a huge success.  Nearly 100 golfers and 20 celebrities from the worlds of motion pictures, television and music participated.

Housing in Shangri-La (as Ojai is often called) is varied.  The surrounding communities of Oak View and Meiners Oaks have a great mix of early California bungalows to magnificent estates.  If you are searching for a "Gentleman's Ranch", look no further than East End Ojai.  Around the downtown area and in the Arbolada, there are sumptuous estates, California Craftsman styles and many homes around the area support magnificent views of the mountains and valley.  Ojai is a magical place to call home.
